Set up an Organization's issuer identity

When an Organization awards credentials — Open Badges and Comprehensive Learner Records — those credentials carry the Organization’s issuer identity: an image and a set of descriptive details that tell a recipient (and anyone verifying later) who issued them. Two panels on the dashboard set this up: the Organization image and the Issuer profile.

The Organization image is the picture embedded in the credentials the Organization signs, and it is also served from the platform’s public canonical-image address for that Organization. Every Organization always resolves to some image — a generated cover — so you are replacing a sensible default, not filling an emptiness.

  1. Find the Organization image panel. It shows the current image and tells you which kind it is: the generated cover, an uploaded image, or an external URL.

  2. To use your own file, choose Upload image and pick one. Supported formats are PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, and SVG, up to 5 MiB. The console confirms “Uploaded the organization image.”

  3. To point at an image hosted elsewhere, paste its address into External image URL and choose Use this URL. The console confirms “Set the organization image URL.”

  4. To go back to the default, choose Reset to generated.

The Issuer profile panel holds the descriptive details that travel inside issued credentials — the Organization’s homepage, contact, and identifiers. The name and image are set elsewhere (the name is the Organization’s own; the image is the panel above), and the parent Organization is filled in automatically.

  1. In the Issuer profile panel, fill in the details you want recipients to see. The main fields are Homepage URL, Contact email, and Description, alongside Phone and an Accountable official.

  2. Under Address, add the postal details as needed: street address, city/locality, region/state, postal code, country and country code, and a PO box.

  3. Under Other identifiers, choose Add identifier to record an external identifier for the Organization — enter the identifier and pick its Type. Remove any row you no longer want.

  4. Choose Save issuer profile.

The console confirms “Saved the issuer profile.” when the details are stored. If it reports that some fields are invalid, check that the Homepage URL starts with https and the Contact email is well-formed, then save again.
