Teach

Teaching in emergent happens inside an Offering — a single run of a subject with its own roster, structure, and marks. Everything you do as a teacher lives in one place: the offering workspace.

From the Offerings list, open the Offering you are teaching. The workspace opens with a row of tabs across the top. The three tabs that make up the core teaching loop are:

  • Structure — build the tree of Learning Units learners work through.
  • Assessments — author items, assemble Assessments, and publish them.
  • Gradebook — read scores, grade hand-ins, and weight the final grade.

The other tabs (Roster, Groups, Discussions, Packages, and more) support that loop; the roster in particular decides who your learners are.

Build a Learning Unit tree

Add grouping and activity Units, then nest and sequence them into the structure learners follow. Build the tree.

Author Assessment items

Build questions with a form and add them to the offering’s item bank — no QTI XML required. Author items.

Build and publish an Assessment

Assemble items into an Assessment, place it in an activity Unit, and publish it. Build and publish.

Read the gradebook

Follow scores in a spreadsheet-like grid, grade hand-ins, and weight categories toward a final grade. Read the gradebook.

Work through them in order the first time: structure gives Assessments somewhere to live, items give Assessments something to ask, and the gradebook fills in as learners respond.
